Have you ever left a comment on a post on Google Plus only to read it back and realise that you’ve made some spelling and grammatical errors? Or perhaps what you’ve written doesn’t quite get your point across clearly and could be worded better? This happens to me especially when I am posting comments while using the Google+ iPhone mobile app because of the combination of typing on a touchscreen and auto-correct trying to be helpful and it’s frankly embarrassing looking back at what I’ve written as it doesn’t provide a great impression to people who read it.
Although you can’t edit comments directly from the iPhone mobile app you can edit them using the Google Plus web interface and this can save you the embarrassment. The steps to do this are as follows.
Editing comments on Google Plus:
1. Find the comment on the post that you want to edit using the Google Plus web interface
2. You will see that the comment has an Edit option as show here which you should click to open up the comment
3. You are now in edit mode of the comment and can make the necessary changes
4. Once you’re done click Save Changes and your comment will now be updated
What you will now also see is that the comment will now show as edited to let others know that you have edited the comment since you originally posted it which may be useful to those who have previously already read your comment. This would be especially useful if you significantly change your comment afterwards so people would have an indication about this.
As I mentioned before this feature is not yet available on the iPhone mobile app but it will certainly be a welcome feature when it’s rolled out as it is much more needed on the mobile but nice to have this option nonetheless.
