Google has come to us with their future in innovation; Introducing the Google Chromebook Pixel; Google’s new laptop combines the best in Chrome OS software and the latest in hardware with Intel i5 processors all inspired by what we have all come to love from our big brother Google. Available in 32 and 64 GB models, the Google Chromebook Pixel comes with a price tag of $1,299.00 (32 GB) or $1,449.00 (64 GB), which includes LTE connectivity with use of any GSM sim card with an active data/internet connection.
The Chromebook Pixel also offers a spectacular view with over 4.3 million pixels all working together to bring you one of the crispiest text, most vivid colors, and extra wide viewing angles all on a 12.85” 3:2 photographic format display, bringing you not only one of the best looking and viewing displays available currently on any laptop (other than MacBook). Which really comes in handy when searching the web, were you can really put each and every pixel to use. The Chromebook Pixel also happens to be a touch screen laptop, with 178 degree viewing angles, rich colors, and all while preserving the highest picture clarity through a 0.55mm layer of touch-enabled glass fused directly to the display!
From a specification standpoint, the Chromebook Pixel comes with a one terabyte Google Drive cloud storage free for 3 years! So if you feel 32 or 64 GB is not enough hard drive space, you can store all your stuff online and access it from anywhere, anytime, from any device! Just like most Chromebooks, the Chromebook Pixel boots-up in seconds and stays fast, requiring zero setup or maintenance from the owner. Best of all, the Chromebook Pixel stays up to date with seamless updates every few weeks (providing you have an active internet connection).
In the design department the Chromebook Pixel is the best looking laptop we here at Mobile Technology Talk have laid eyes on since the introduction of the 2008 MacBook Pro Series. Funny thing is, there truly is nothing extravagant about the Chromebook Pixel to distract you from getting your work or task done! Whit a machined aluminum body – vents hidden, screws are invisible, and the speakers are seamlessly tucked away behind the backlit keyboard. When opening and closing the lid of the Pixel just left the lid with a single finger thanks to the Chromebooks finely tuned piano hinge, which is engineered to augment the range of the two Wi-Fi antennas and as a heat-sink to help keep the machine cool. In regards to quality components; The Chromebook Pixel has an integrated HD webcam, microphone array, and active noise cancellation help ensure that your video and audio files are always lifelike from start to finish! Multi-finger touch, natural scrolling touchpad, and all the other gestures you would expect from any “high priced” consumer laptop. Lets not forget that the touchpad included is also constructed from etched glass as well!
Overall this is a laptop that takes a special place in all of our hearts. Even though the OS can use a massive overall, and is like getting a new born baby (Chrome OS) compared to a full-grown child (OS X, Windows), but with all the wonderful hardware specs and pure visual beauty, we feel the right person would be honored to own such a mobile device. For this, we rate the Google Chromebook Pixel a 4 out of 5.
